It absolutely works, and is a scientific fact, and an often proven psychological treatment. I've seen it work myself...people who stopped smoking (several), stage hypnotism (I came with some of those who were hypnotized so I know they weren't 'faking'). University hypnotism demonstration class (I don't think the University was faking). It's true some people can't be hypnotized, and it doesn't work 100% of the time (what does), maybe 80%. You 'do' have to cooperate, have an open mind, and follow the instructions (like anything else). Anyone 'can' refuse to take part, refuse to concentrate, cooperate, and then say...it doesn't work, but that's not really fair is it?

Its actually a trick. It works because it doesn't work, hypnosis is when someone is tricked into doing something while uncontious. Its all a trick. Because while you are thinking it is going to worrk you really trick yourself into doing something without realizing you are behind what you are doing.

You should watch this induction video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XkU4jYh83A

Watch it and follow the instructions inside it from beginning to end
straight through. No skipping ahead and make sure you will be
undisturbed (e.g. no pets and turn off cellphone).

A strenuous link that would surely be trumpeted by those who lack respect for civilized discourse, perhaps.

On the contrary, hypnotists rely on people NOT listening consciously, because they are trying to get to your subconscious mind.

realistically, you have to ask yourself, would you go to a hypnotherapist who was fresh out of college? Most people don't want to see a hypnotist unless they have proven life skills. Certainly a 55 year old woman isn't going to a 22 year old hypnotist for help.

It's a great skill. Add it to your tool kit as you develop your psychology practice.

I would hazard a guess that you are already interested in a good number of things. It will help you, in general, to let yourself focus on those things that do interest you in your schooling. Then the bits that do not interest you may be less bothersome.

Hypnotism can't make you do something against your will, but it can help you focus on the desirable aspects of your undertaking. Many things can be true at once -- you hate schoolwork, but you want to make an interesting life for yourself. You may not enjoy studying, but you like having the correct answers when you are asked by a teacher. There are many, very good, personal reasons that a person wants to do well in school, and I work with people on those things often. There are many aspects of study and testing as well as ordinary life that a decent hypnotherapist approaches in order to help you do well in school and through examinations.

Self-hypnosis is certainly one of those tools you can use, to help yourself make it through school, and take your education with you. If you want to learn self-hypnosis, you might want to get this wonderful book by Charles Tebbetts, called 'Self-Hypnosis And Other Mind-Expanding Techniques.' This book reveals the structure and workings of the mind, and how to do self-hypnosis, in a very clear, simple way.

it might work it all depends upon your reasons for avoiding it - It would work better on your fear of failure or fear of not understanding. Hypnotism cant make you do what you dont want to do so if you have more energy wanting to not be engaged in schoolwork then it isn't going to help.
